Throughout this course sometimes I've had you look at current events. Understanding how the government works is only part of what you're supposed to learn in a government class. You are also supposed to learn about how the decisions the government makes affects you. You've looked at Executive Orders and Supreme Court Decisions. You've analyzed the Constitution and looked at how different documents helped the United States create a Constitution. You've also studied different types of government and what a Democracy and a Republic mean. You've also looked at Political Parties and Economic systems, and how the United States compares to other countries around the world.

Current Event Article Assignment
1. Choose a newspaper (paper or online news source) and find an article that appeals to you. The article should be at least 4 paragraphs long and have enough "meat" to it that you can summarize the article and add your own opinion to it.
The article can be from the local, state, national or world *** NO sports, entertainment, gossip or advertisement articles.***
